  • You want your PAYE and other income synced from IRD now.
  • You’re happy on a trial-then-subscription plan.

Where Wrightly fits best

  • You want an ongoing free plan, not a trial.
  • You operate as a company and need IR4, not just IR3.
  • You want to connect your own AI and tools (Claude / MCP).

Wrightly is free to start — no trial clock — so you can run your books and see your live tax position for as long as you like before deciding. See pricing.

Wrightly vs Solo — questions

Is Wrightly a Solo alternative?
Yes — Solo is the closest thing to Wrightly, with the same New Zealand sole-trader focus, invoicing, GST and income tax. The main differences: Wrightly has an ongoing free plan where Solo is a trial then paid, Wrightly also handles company IR4, and Wrightly lets you connect your own AI and tools over MCP and an API.
How is the pricing different?
Solo runs a 14-day free trial and then charges monthly. Wrightly keeps an ongoing free plan for the basics — invoicing, GST, income tax and more — and only charges $19/month if you want the AI to do your data entry.
Does Wrightly connect to my bank like Solo?
Not yet — this is where Solo is ahead today. Solo has live bank feeds and IRD income sync now; Wrightly’s are coming soon. In the meantime you bring in a bank statement and, on Wrightly Plus, the AI reads and categorises it for you.
When is Solo the better choice?
If live bank feeds and syncing your PAYE and other income straight from IRD matter to you right now, Solo already does both. Wrightly is the better fit if you want an ongoing free plan, company IR4 support, or to run your books through your own AI tools.
