Tax questions
Does Wrightly file my returns to IRD for me?
Not yet. Wrightly keeps your GST returns and your IR3 or IR4 ready to file on every plan. You then file in myIR. For income tax, Wrightly lists what to enter in each box.
How does Wrightly work out the GST?
GST is derived from the category, amount and date of each transaction: the full GST content (3/23 of a GST-inclusive amount), never a figure you have to enter or that can go stale. It’s zero when a category is GST-exempt or before your GST registration date.
Do I need to be GST registered?
No. If you’re not registered, Wrightly adds no GST. Once you register, set your registration date and Wrightly starts tracking GST from that day.
Does it work for a company as well as a sole trader?
Yes. A sole trader gets the IR3 and a company gets the IR4. Both come with the IR10 financial statements.
How does provisional tax work in Wrightly?
Wrightly uses the standard method. If last year’s residual income tax was over $5,000, it lists this year’s instalments with their due dates, at 105% of last year’s figure. You mark each one paid as you pay it.
