ApproveStarted a side hustle. Now what does IRD want?
Do I have to keep every receipt?
A glovebox full, a drawer full, a few buried in email. Every one that fades is a deduction you hand back to IRD.
My first GST return. Where do I start?
You registered, the invoices went out, and now IRD wants a number you don’t have.
Anyone got a good spreadsheet for this?
Money’s coming in, nothing’s set aside, and the tax bill is a guess. The spreadsheet you started in week one didn’t survive week three.
Features
How much GST do I owe this time?
Wrightly works out the GST on every invoice and expense as you enter it. Come filing time the boxes are already filled in: what you collected, what you paid, and what you owe IRD.
- Live GST-collected and GST-paid totals
- Period-ready reports you can file straight from
- No spreadsheets, no month-end scramble

Can I just take a photo of the receipt?

No surprise price rises
If we ever raise prices, you get advance notice before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Questions, answered.
Is the free tier really free?
Yes, and there's no trial clock. The free plan covers your books and every tax feature: receipts, expenses, mileage, live GST tracking and income tax returns ready to file, with unlimited clients and unlimited quotes. You enter and categorise things yourself. Each month you can send 5 invoices, add 20 receipts and add 30 transactions. AI reads 3 of your receipts a month. Wrightly Plus lifts those limits, adds bank feeds and reads up to 100 receipts a month.
What do the paid plans add?
Wrightly Plus lifts the free plan's limits. Connect your bank with read-only access and your transactions come in on their own, with a suggested category. Email or upload your bills and receipts and AI reads them and matches them to the right bank transaction. Plus reads up to 100 receipts a month. You approve it all before it reaches your books, and you can undo a batch. Wrightly Premium adds projects, timesheets, recurring invoices, files on quotes and invoices, and the copilot chat. It reads up to 1,000 receipts a month.
How much do the paid plans cost?
Wrightly Plus is $19 a month plus GST, or $190 a year plus GST, about 17% off the monthly price. The first month of the monthly plan is $9.50 plus GST. Wrightly Premium is $29 a month plus GST, or $290 a year plus GST, about 17% off the monthly price. The first month of the monthly plan is $14.50 plus GST. You can cancel any time.
Which banks can I connect?
You can connect ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac and more through open banking (Akahu). Bank feeds are part of Wrightly Plus. Access is read only, and you can disconnect any time.
Do you file to IRD for me?
Wrightly keeps your GST returns and your income tax return (IR3 for sole traders, IR4 for companies) filing-ready on every plan, so the numbers are already done when a return is due. You file in myIR, and you copy the finished figures into it.
Do you handle my money?
No. Wrightly never touches your bank account or moves money, and connections are read-only. You keep control of your accounts. Wrightly only reads and organises the data.
Can my accountant use it too?
Yes. Wrightly is multi-member: invite your accountant or business partner into your organisation with their own login and the right role.
Can I connect my own AI or tools?
Yes, on every plan. Connect Claude with the one-click MCP connector, or use org-scoped API tokens for scripts and other clients. Everything the app can do, from receipts and invoices to GST summaries and publishing transactions, is available as tools.
